This past weekend was both ridiculously fun and utterly exhausting. I’d say thank goodness for that extra hour of sleep yesterday, but I needed much more than that for it to matter. (I know – poor me.)
So, back to Friday’s contest – the balloon boy pumpkin didn’t win. But it’s okay because this took first prize:

So detailed!

"Make love not pie!" "Watergourding is torture!"
I also loved this one:

Additionally, I was successful in my accessory search (thank you all for your advice!). What’s a genie without her lamp?

And finally, the most original costume I’ve seen yet:

If you’ve ever been approached by a flower guy, you know how appropriate this is. And you’ll appreciate how he didn’t smile all night as he awkwardly sidled up to groups, bouquet in hand.
I applaud your dedication to the character – well done, sir.
What was the best costume you saw this weekend? And if you dressed up – what were you?

Nice pics, but no mention of last night’s defensive breakdown by the Phils? If you remember my previous comments, I was worried about the Phils pen and this has come to fruition. I hope Cliff Lee pulls them out of it tonight. I despise the Yankees, but it is looking grim.
The collapse still hurts. I went to bed cursing Lidge and Hamels (from Saturday). I think we’re beyond grim at this point.
You look great- and the shady flower guy is such a good idea for a costume.
Isn’t it though? It’s obvious but brilliant.
Damn that is awesome! And extremely detailed! Perfectly captures DC.
Great costume lady! One of the good ones I saw this weekend was a guy dressed up as a knight from the round table. He was just missing his horse.
Ooh, I like that. Did he have all the other knights with him?
I love the protesting pumpkins. I also love that the wandering flower guy is an international phenomenon. Fantastic.
He was just so good. So perfectly awkward.
I saw a Jay and Silent Bob this weekend that was pretty hilarious.
So where did you find the lamp?
I love Jay and Silent Bob. That would have been great to see out.
As for the lamp, I had to trek out to Party City and fight through children (read: teenagers) swarming the costumes, but it was worth it.
Ah, the shady flower guy. I actually was cornered into buying a flower from him once.
Also, great costume! Is that the Aladdin toy lamp? If memory serves, there’s one in my parents’ house from way back when. (Ok, fine, it’s in my old bedroom.)
It is, indeed the Aladdin lamp. And no shame in having that in your old room. Aladdin’s a classic.
I’ve bought flowers from that guy. That costume is the best idea I’ve heard this year. Well, second to yours. Of course.
Oh, no. He definitely takes the cake.
And I actually wonder if he sold any roses that night. Part costume, part quick money-making.
Heading downtown on the Metro the two best ones I saw were a pretty good caveman and Tom Hanks from Castaway complete with a Wilson. The best part of the ride, thought, was the guy driving the train reciting Dr. Seuss verses at each stop. My fav: “I do not like green eggs and ham, I do not like them Sam-I-Am.”
Cute costume. To paraphrase Agent J in MiB, “You make that look good.”

Wow, you make quite the hot Genie! That pumpkin is off the wall as well. I pulled the trigger on the tracksuitmafia and we cause a lot of trouble.
oh man, the flower guy! BRILLIANT! haha
